Thinking of ordering a commission? Here are some details explaining how to do so.

If you would like to commission me to do a portrait for you then please feel free to contact me at any time to discuss your requirements.

There are a few things that you may like to consider in order to ensure that you receive the portrait you would like; these are;

a) choice of medium
b) size of portrait
c) the composition (ie what goes in the picture)

All commissions are supplied unframed. Should you require framing, we can discuss this at the time of ordering.

Choice of medium - I currently offer a choice of two mediums. Pencil graphite or watercolour. Both mediums are excellent at capturing your favourite animals or scenes. Please take a moment to look in my gallery where you can see examples of both mediums. This may help you decide which medium you prefer.

Size of Portrait. The size of the finished artwork will depend upon what you would like to be included. You may opt for a single head study or a full body portrait. More than one subject can be included in the portrait (these will be a larger size than a single head study).

Please see my price guide for an idea on sizes/prices. Go to the price page here...  http://www.huntacott.co.uk/page8.htm  or get there from the Commissions links on the left hand side of the pages.

Photographs Photographs can be either printed or digital (jpeg).

I like to work from as many photos as you able to supply. I will return all your photos as soon as your commission is completed. If you wish to use digital images please bear in mind that a higher resolution will allow me to see more detail than a low resolution image. These images can be put on a CD which I will return to you. We can discuss this at the start of the commission. If you are sending me professionally taken photographs I will need to be sent written approval by the photographer to use them so as not to breach copyright.

All photographs submitted will be freely available for my use with no obligation.

Things to consider with your photos.
When selecting the pictures to send, please let me know which photographs show the animals coat colour most accurately. Also please include, if at all possible, a photo that shows your animals eye in as much detail as possible.

The eye is very important when producing a commission as it is key to bringing the whole portrait to life.

Commissions can be produced from poor quality images but they may lack some of the smaller details that you would prefer to have included.

Composition & Backgrounds. As a personal choice I feel that simple backgrounds keep the main emphasis on the portrait subject.

Collars etc will not normally be included in the finished portrait. If you wish them to be included please let me know.

Time Scales. Timescales vary depending upon the medium you choose.

Graphite pencil drawings are approx 4 weeks from written confirmation of the commission. Watercolours are 6  weeks from written confirmation of the commission.

Please remember that at busy times of the year (such as Christmas) timescales may vary, however timing will always be agreed before receivng your written acceptance of the commission.

If a portrait is a special gift for a particular date, a surprise present or needs to be sent to a different address then please let me know the details as soon as possible.

Terms & Conditions etc. As soon as the portait is completed I will send an image for your approval. Your completed portait will then be posted to you upon receipt of the full payment. Guide prices do not include postage packaging and insurance.

© Copyright - Please note that the copyright to any commissioned portrait remains with myself as the artist. This means that your portrait may not be published or reproduced by anyone else without my written permission.

When ordering a commission you agree to grant me a royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to publish and otherwise use the material in any way that I wish, and in any media worldwide.
